About the Oak Cliff Film Festival

"Recognized as the new heart of North Texas film culture... a burst of indie street credibility."

The 5th Annual Oak Cliff Film Festival (OCFF) will take place June 16-19, 2016 at the Texas Theatre, Kessler Theater, Bishop Arts Theatre Center, and numerous other venues around Jefferson Boulevard and the Bishop Arts District.

The 2016 festival theme is inspired by the New Hollywood era in which a wave of auteur filmmakers were given the freedom to tell the stories they wanted to tell. These directors broke through the established conventions of the studio system and slapped it with a jolt of energy, sexuality, realism, and artistry that it had desperately needed. These films built new paradigms and communities and utilized new technologies that made production accessible for more filmmakers.

The Oak Cliff Film Festival was established in 2012 as a regional film festival in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, Texas. The festival has received national acclaim from prominent sources including The New York Times, Filmmaker Magazine, and Moviemaker Magazine. Led by the Aviation Cinemas team, who took over operations at the Texas Theatre in December of 2010, and backed by the 501 3(c) Oak Cliff Foundation.
